Abram I. Bohrer, Esq.
“Abe” as his colleagues and friends call him is experienced in all aspects of accident and disaster litigation and has represented the families of persons injured or killed in aviation and maritime disasters, construction site accidents, tractor trailer and auto collisions, premises liability accidents and patients harmed by nursing homes, defective products, unsafe drugs and medical devices. Abe has been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as among the top lawyers in the New York Metro area for seven consecutive years and in 2009 was named to the list of top 100 lawyers in all of New York
In the aviation law arena, Abe is known by airlines and insurance carriers for his website www.flightinjury.com and has helped hundreds of airline passengers seek compensation for injuries suffered during commercial flights. Abe has also represented victims of private jets and propeller aircraft accidents as well as passengers injured around the world in airports or during almost all aspects of flight and boarding from emergency evacuations to flight attendant inflicted injuries. He has successfully litigated claims against American, Delta, Continental, El Al Israel, Air Canada, Air Jamaica, Korean Air, Alitalia, Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, Tower Air, US Airways Virgin Atlantic and others.
He was among the attorneys to represent the families of victims who perished aboard American Airlines flight 587 which crashed shortly after take-off in the Rockaways on November 12, 2001. Mr. Bohrer brought lawsuits against both the carrier American Airlines for negligence and violations of the Warsaw Convention, and as against aircraft manufacturer Airbus for products liability on the theory that the defective design of the aircraft’s rear vertical stabilizer was a cause of the airliner’s loss of control and ultimate crash. Mr. Bohrer is among the only attorneys in the entire United States to have successfully tried to verdict a case involving the treaty known as the Warsaw Convention which governs international commercial air travel. This landmark decision scored a major victory for airline passengers’ rights under the Convention.
In addition to representing the victims of air disasters, Mr. Bohrer represented a number of victims and served as a steering committee member of the Staten Island Ferry crash of 2003, as well as victims of the 9/11 terrorist bombings under the government sponsored victims compensation fund. Recently, he represented Suffolk County New York in a mass tort action against the makers of the cholesterol inhibitor drugs Vytorin and Zetia which resulted in a settlement of over forty million dollars by the drug manufacturers.
Abe now represents numerous clients from all over the United States who were injured as a result of the defective Depuy ASR and Pinnacle metal on metal hip replacements.
