Joseph Perea, Esq.
After obtaining his law degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2004, Joseph began working as an appeals referee for the State of Florida Unemployment Compensation Appeals, Department of Economic Opportunity. He moved on to civil litigation in 2007 and has practiced Fair Labor Standards Act, personal injury, foreclosure defense, and general commercial litigation. Since 2014, Joseph has practiced workers’ compensation law. In addition, Joseph has filed and handled scores of complaints under Fla. Stat. 440.205, protecting the rights of injured workers who have been coerced by their employers due to their valid claim for workers’ compensation. He has never practiced insurance defense and has personally stated he never wants to as his sole purpose as a lawyer is to help people in need. He has practiced extensively in Federal Court in the Southern District of Florida. He speaks and writes fluent Spanish. Before becoming an attorney, Joseph was an active duty United States Marine and subsequent to that, an English teacher. Joseph lives in Miami-Dade County with his wife, an elementary school teacher, and their three children.
